Make: Creepy Colander Hangers

Fall is always a fun time of year for crafting, especially for those who love all things creepy and crawly! This tutorial was created by our Online Store Associate, Lori Jones, to get you into the spirit of the season!

Supplies to Gather:

  • A container, preferably plastic so you can make holes if you need to, but if you use an old colander you're all set!

  • Spray paint

  • Decorations, and whatever glue is needed to attach them

  • Rick Rack, or any kind of ribbon, cord, etc. This is a hanger, so something that isn't stretchy.

  • Hook, or rod. Something for it to hang from.

  • A plant, or fill it with fairy lights and candy!

Instructions:

1. Spray paint your container. A box might be helpful so you don’t get paint all over the place!

2. Gather your decorations, and play with ideas. Each container is different, so figure out what looks best with yours!

3. If your container doesn't already have holes, make holes for the Rick Rack or ribbon to go through, from the inside out, and tie knots on the ends that are on the outside. Pull from inside until the knots hold up. Gather the 3 inside ends together and tie a knot at the tippy top. Adjust knot if the container isn't hanging the way you want it.

4. Hang, add a plant, or fill with candy. Since this one is a colander with holes, fairy lights would be perfect!
