Experiential Community Mural

Experiential Community Mural: A Mural for Hope!

Join Us in Creating a Collaborative Masterpiece of Resilience & Connection

Throughout Mental Health Awareness Month, add your voice to a growing tapestry of hope! This mural—crafted by you and our community—will celebrate healing, self-compassion, and the power of creative reuse.

Theme & Inspiration:

🎨 💖 Prompt 1: “How does Austin CreativeReuse make you feel?”

Use these prompts (or your own reflections) to guide your art! Think: bold colors, textures, symbols, or handwritten words.

How to Participate:

  • Craft On-Site: Drop by our community space near the Office/Education Supplies section! Use provided reclaimed materials to create your 4x4” piece on-site.

  • Bring Your Creation: Prefer to work at home? Bring a 4x4 inch artwork (paper, fabric, or reclaimed materials) to add to the mural.

Material Notes:

🚫 No tiles, metal frames, or heavy objects.

✅ All other lightweight, reusable materials welcome!

Why This Matters:

✨ Collective Healing: Every square tells a story. Together, we’ll build a visual reminder that no one journeys alone.

✨ Art as Advocacy: Transform “scraps” into symbols of hope, proving creativity can turn challenges into beauty.

✨ Mental Health in Motion: Expressing emotions through art reduces stigma and fosters connection.

Join Us To:

🌟 Turn feelings into shared color. 🌟 Celebrate imperfection as part of growth. 🌟 Leave a legacy of hope for future visitors.

Event Details:

When: All of May 2025 during ACR open hours.

Where: Austin Creative Reuse (near the Office/Education Supplies section).

Cost: Free! Just bring your heart + creativity.

Take Home: A photo of your contribution to the mural. The joy of knowing your art uplifts others.

Let’s paint a future where every emotion has a place—and every person belongs. 🎨💞

Part of Mental Health Awareness Month at Austin Creative Reuse.

Earth Day ATX at Huston-Tillotson University

Join ACR and many other local community organizations for Earth Day ATX Annual Event, part of Huston-Tillotson University's 150th anniversary programming. The event will feature an interactive timeline of environmental justice in Austin, (a partnership with Earth Day, HT and Austin Free Press) where you can explore the rich histories and add your own. We also have live music, food vendors, kid’s nature and STEAM activities, exhibitors, green living resources, discussion panels, storytelling, art, and much more!

The mission of Earth Day Austin is to ensure that equity is at the center of the environmental movement in Central Texas. We are motivated by the recognition that the forces that enable environmental degradation are the same ones that fuel racism, sexism, ableism, and all forms of discrimination and structural inequality. Community is the antidote to these forces.

Austin is a community of communities. This is why Earth Day Austin works hard to ensure that everyone can participate and see themselves represented at the festival. From the diversity of our exhibitors, music, food and program partners to the concierge-style ASL and Spanish interpretation to the fact that event admission is free...

This event is for you.
