Help us paint a storybook mural onto our Materials Mobile trailer!

Local artist Sarah Doan is creating a mural artwork for our Materials Mobile trailer. To bring Sarah's design to life, we're hosting a series of community sessions where you can join in on the process using a simple paint-by-numbers approach.

Location: Austin Creative Reuse, 2005 Wheless Lane, on the side of the building.

Dates & Times:

• Saturday July 11, 11AM-12PM

• Sunday July 12, 12-3PM

• Saturday July 18, 11AM-3PM

• No need to come for the whole time - you can join for as long or as short as you'd like!

What to bring: Wear clothes that you don't mind getting paint on! We'll be outdoors, so please bring a hat, sunscreen, and reusable water bottle.

Join ACR for our Back to School Celebration - Art Unveiling, Mini-Market & Free Reuse Activities! 

This event will be the official unveiling of the new design of our Materials Mobile trailer, painted by local storybook author and illustrator Sarah Doan and assisted by members of the community! We’ll unveil the artwork at 12PM, then Sarah will be offering a free reuse keychain activity for all ages.

Outside on our shaded portico, we’ll feature a mini artist market and a fun reuse stamping activity with old book pages. Inside Books Project will also be joining us to share their mission of sending reading materials to incarcerated Texans, and share opportunities to get involved.

Inside, we’ll have our  $5 Fill-A-Bag Back to School Sale and Buy One, Get One Free Puzzles & Games Sale, plus a free reuse make and take in (late) celebration of National Puzzle Day! There will also be fun games and activities for kids of all ages.

Our Community Volunteer days are a time for anyone who would like to lend a hand come in and volunteer. Quilting Fabric is sorting through boxes of quilting fabric by size and pattern. Bonus, you’ll get first dibs on the goods before they hit the floor!

Help support our Educator’s program! You could be doing a number of tasks, including sorting materials, packaging supplies, or creating original Educational Kits for the community!

If you enjoy creating order out of chaos, this is the opportunity for you!

Join us on the fourth Sunday of each month, June to September, for a celebration of reuse art, community, and a mini-market featuring reuse art vendors on our shaded outdoor portico and sidewalk.

Our fifth annual community reuse fashion show, Reuse on the Runway: A Night of Fashion, Cosplay & Drag, will feature dozens of local designers showcasing many unique looks! Every look that will be showcased in the event features innovative reuse materials or methods. Our aim is to encourage creatives to explore materials in a new way and show our community that fashion can be stunning and environmentally friendly.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Mueller's Branch Park Pavilion! Tickets will go on sale on August 1 - join us for a night of fun at Austin's most unique fashion show! Secure your spot now for an evening filled with creativity, sustainability, and style!

Doors open at 5:30PM and the show will start at 6:30PM.

In addition to the runway show, there will be fun, family-friendly activities that celebrate reuse and the creativity of our community.

There will be a full bar, as well as snacks sold at the bar.
