Make: Spooky Light Bulb Spiders 💡—>🕷️

Halloween is right around the corner, and instead of going out and spending tons of cash on decorations, why not make your own?! This super simple tutorial will show you how to take a burned out light bulb (who doesn’t have one of those in their home?), and turn it into a spooky spider that you can display all year round.

Supplies Needed:

  • Dead light bulb

  • Wire

  • Googly eyes

  • Paint

  • Hot glue gun and extra glue sticks

Instructions

  1. Cut 4 lengths of wire that are approximately 6” each

2. Find the center of the wire and hot glue it to the bottom of the light bulb where the threads are. Repeat this with the other 3 lengths, securing each one slightly further back than the one before it. These will be your 8 legs.

3. Create two bends in each leg. The first bend should be roughly halfway down the wire and bent towards the top of the light bulb. Next, bend about the last 1/2 inch or so to be flat when placing it on a surface. Repeat for the other 7 legs.

4. Paint your spider whatever color you’d like! We chose black for the legs, and silver sparkles for the body. Add 8 googly eyes to the front (the bottom of the light bulb), and voilà! You’ve got yourself a completed spider! 🕷️
