June Reuse & [Re]Think Winner: Rebecca B!

With the month of June came the onset of summer, and when we challenged you to reimagine projector slides, y’all came in with the hotness! Our judges were delighted to look through all of the submissions for this Reuse & [Re]Think Challenge, and we’re excited to announce the winner - Rebecca B!

Rebecca created two top-rated, unique designs - a handmade oracle card using a film slide and and a resin pendant for a necklace made from a slide of a pirate ship with gold foil. ICONIC!

Allie and Isaac used slides, paper, fabric, toothpicks, parasols, and tea lights to create their summer beach house!

I made examples of several paper crafting ideas using slides. The houses are made from the vintage paper kind and the mini art frames are made with the plastic kind. Some of the materials used are gesso, Lindy's Starburst spray, acrylic paint, scrapbook paper, yarn, glue, tea bags and, of course, slides.

I wanted to use my slides like windows or art, then was inspired to make it look like a cathedral in Italy, which then evolved into making it a little bird feeder.

I created these earrings when I took the "Anything Can Be an Earring" y'all offered a couple months ago. It’s only the earring bracket thingy and slides, I’m sure they won’t last long, but that’s okay by me. As an archivist I have always loved slides and love to be able to wear them.

I actually have many slides but stumbled upon a few slides with random words on them a while back and it inspired me to create this collage. Every Collage Artist is sort of a junk dealer, collecting wherever and whenever you see a good item. This piece is the result of that practice.
