Reuse & [Re]Think Challenge: Lanyards

Did you know that the Austin Convention Center hosts approximately 300,000 visitors each year? In all likelihood, each of those visitors is receiving a branded lanyard with their conference credential upon registration and check-in. What happens to all those lanyards at the end of the event? Many end up in landfills, but some end up in the donation streams of various organizations, including at Austin Creative Reuse.

Lanyards are typically very durable and made of strong, synthetic materials, making them perfect for repurposing in other applications!

For this quarter’s Reuse & [Re]Think Contest, we’re challenging you to come up with ways to reuse lanyards. Whether you break them down into their component parts or keep them in tact, we want to see your creative ideas.

Submission:

Once you’ve completed your creation, provide at least 2 photos of your art piece, your contact info, and a short description of materials used. Email your submission to rethink@austincreativereuse.org by the deadline.

Creations will be judged on incorporation of reuse materials, craftsmanship, and creativity.

One winner will be notified and receive a $25 gift card to ACR that can be redeemed in center. They will also be announced on our social media.

Deadline: 11:59PM on Monday, March 31, 2025

Please feel free to email rethink@austincreativereuse.org with any questions. Good luck!
