Reuse & [Re]Think Challenge: Plastic Cutlery

We’re excited to announce a major change to our Reuse & [Re]Think Contest for 2024 - it’s now moving to quarterly!

We know it’s already difficult to come up with a project for some of the unconventional materials that we challenge our community to use. This change will give everyone more time to come up with an idea, and create their masterpiece!

Now, the first challenge of 2024!

Every day in the United States, nearly 100 million plastic utensils are discarded. Yep, you read that correctly - 100 MILLION! every. single. day. To kick off the New Year, we challenge you to reimagine what all those plastic utensils could be. Plasticware comes in all types of colors, flexibility, and size. They’re a great raw material to let your creativity go wild!

Submission:

Once you’ve completed your creation, please provide at least 2 photos of your art piece, your contact info, and a short description of materials used. Email your submission to rethink@austincreativereuse.org by the deadline.

Creations will be judged on incorporation of reuse materials, craftsmanship, and creativity.

One winner will be notified and receive a $25 gift card to ACR that can be redeemed either in center or our online store. They will also be announced on our social media.
