Staff Spotlight: Avery Gonzalez

Each month we highlight one of the amazing staff members that makes the reuse magic happen at ACR. This month, it’s Retail Reuse Specialist, Avery Gonzalez (she/her). She’s keeps it short and to the point in this interview, and honestly, we think that’s pretty cool.

How did you find Austin Creative Reuse?

Through the UT Austin Work Study Program!

What’s your favorite part about working at ACR?

Finding all sorts of cursed knick knacks :)

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve found donated to ACR?

Maybe the time we had a box of pet ashes donated... yeah... that was pretty odd.

Are you an artist, crafter, or maker? What mediums do you work with?

I like to sew and crochet but am not a professional by any means lol.

What do you do when you’re not working at ACR/what other hobbies do you have?

I like to read and really any DIY project I can get my hands on.

Do you have any children or pets?

Yes!! here are two of my cats chico (tuxedo) and cheeseburger (orange).

Are you from Austin? And if not, where are you from?

I'm from Burleson, TX!
