About the Instructor

Barbara Paris is an art educator and lifelong artist. Her work can be found in many public and private art collections throughout North and South America.

Currently based in Austin, Texas, she was born in New York City and raised in New Jersey. Barbara received her B.A. in Art Education and B.F.A. in Studio Art from the University of Massachusetts.

Barbara describes her work as intention. That is, she puts the paint where it belongs and the paint goes on to become what it is. She works with strong color and texture, adding elements such as glass and paper to the canvas, the purpose of which is to surround herself with things that make her feel good, and to share that feeling with others. Barb has been creating with ACR since 2016. Head to her website to see some of her work.

Kids Art Camp Terms and Conditions

Refund Policy: We understand that plans can change between the time of registration and the start of camp. In order to receive a refund of any camp fees, we require notification in writing to programs@austincreativereuse.org. If written notice is received between 59-30 calendar days before the start of your session, a 25% refund will be issued. No refunds will be issued after 30 calendar days before the start of your session. All refunds will be made to the method used to book the session. No refund will be issued if the camper decides to stop attending for any reason. We are a nonprofit organization and any forfeiture of deposits or fees will be put in our general operating fund.

Drop Off & Pick Up: Camp drop off and pick up will take place in ACR's classroom. Campers may not be dropped off at Austin Creative Reuse before 8:45 a.m. unless previously approved by ACR, and it may only happen if there is an ACR staff member present in the classroom. Camp ends at 12:00 p.m. Please pick up your camper on time. If we haven't heard from you by 12:15 p.m., ACR staff will contact your emergency contact for an estimated time of arrival. A fee of $1 per minute will be charged for late pick up starting at 12:15 p.m. Campers will only be allowed to leave camp with an authorized adult named on their registration form. Please email us at programs@austincreativereuse.org to make any changes to your list of authorized pick up persons anytime before camp starts.

Behavioral Expectations: ACR camp is a dedicated, art-focused space, and is unlike afterschool childcare. As it is intentionally focused on art, if your child isn't interested in several, long days of creating, this may not be the best camp for them. ACR reserves the right to dismiss any camper whose conduct is deemed detrimental to the safety or best interests of the program and/or other campers. No refunds will be issued due to dismissals.

Covid-19 Safety Precautions: All campers are required to comply with any and all Covid safety precautions that are in place at the time of their session. These are subject to change and may include: health screenings and temperature checks, wearing a face covering at all times, maintaining social distancing, and frequent hand washing and use of hand sanitizer. We may require these precautions regardless of an individual’s Covid vaccination status. Please do not send your artist to camp if they or anyone in your household are experiencing any Covid symptoms or have been exposed to anyone who has been diagnosed with Covid or is experiencing any symptoms of Covid. ACR will follow current CDC guidelines in determining when it is safe for an artist to return to camp. No refunds will be issued due to positive Covid test results. Failure to comply with safety protocols, including Covid protocols, will result in immediate dismissal without refund.
