Online Store Changes
Exciting news! In an effort to continually evolve in how we serve our community, ACR is moving our online store to eBay for Charity, where we will offer a curated collection of the vintage items, collectibles and other one-of-a-kind treasures that you have come to love from ACR’s online store. We’re also excited to offer nationwide shipping for the first time, so faraway fans of ACR can also join in the fun.
ACR has always been committed to matching each item that is donated to us with its highest, best use. We understand that sometimes we may need to reach a bit further to find the perfect home for some of the more unusual items that are donated to us. Some items are better preserved than upcycled, and some items are just too delicate to sell in our center. By expanding to a nationwide platform, we can spread the ACR love even further while still providing a unique experience for our local community.
What’s new?
Starting March 11, 2025, ACR’s online store is moving to eBay. You can still find us at shopacr.org - we know you have it memorized! - or through the links on our website. Moving our online store to eBay will allow us to offer a seamless online shopping process for our dedicated ACR customers, plus offer shipping to new and existing customers while at the same time keeping more of the proceeds to invest back into the organization (yay for lower fees!).
What will you sell?
So many treasures! Our new online store will continue to sell many of the items you’re used to seeing in our online store, with a renewed focus on vintage, collectibles and unique speciality items. You’ll find items like: one-of-a-kind vintage and antique items, unique niche items (like tapestries, stamp albums and musical instruments), collectibles and memorabilia, jewelry, decor, high end fine art supplies, yarn and fabrics, quilt kits, larger tools like quilting machines and 3D printers, and much more.
But don’t worry - the more common crafting supplies we’ve previously sold in the online store aren’t going away, you can still find them in person the next time you visit the center.
Why are you changing platforms?
We launched ACR’s first online store in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic to provide safe virtual access to a variety of the materials commonly available in our center while we were closed to the public. Now most folks shop for those types of items in our center, and over time our focus has shifted to using the online store to highlight more unique vintage, collectible and specialty items. In moving to eBay, we are leaning into this change to offer even more of these items to our community and reuse fans across the country.
If you’re selling on eBay now, will you ship?
Yes! Folks have been asking for shipping since the day we opened our first online store, and we are delighted to finally be able to offer this service. Nationwide shipping is now available for most items listed in the online store, with the exception of some very delicate or very difficult to ship items. All items will still be available for free local pickup at our center. Individual item listings will indicate whether the item is available for shipping, local pickup or both.
How does this impact regular customers of our online store?
This change will make it possible for us to bring you even more of the fun and unique items that you expect to find at ACR, with the benefit of a more seamless shopping process and the option to easily ship that one-of-a-kind gift to your favorite Auntie in Albuquerque. We will continue with our regularly scheduled Tuesday night inventory drops - that’s the insider tip right there! Never miss a new item by subscribing to our Weekly Newsletter or following us on your favorite socials platform (@austincreativereuse).
In line with our sustainability mission, we still encourage local shoppers to pick up their orders, if possible. To say thanks for choosing local pickup, all orders picked up between now and the end of March will receive a coupon for 10% off a future in-center purchase (expires Sept 30, 2025).
If I choose to pick up my items, has the process changed?
Not much! After making your purchase, you’ll receive an email from ACR with pickup logistics like our location and hours. Now, you’ll also receive a confirmation message from eBay with a QR code and a 6-digit confirmation code. Show this to an employee when picking up your order. You’ll have two weeks to pick up your item before it’s refunded minus a 25% restocking fee—just like before.
Can I sell an item on eBay and donate a portion of my sale to you?
Absolutely! When listing an item, select a registered charity (like Austin Creative Reuse) and choose a donation percentage. eBay and PayPal Giving Fund will handle the donation process automatically.
