Staff Spotlight: Tessa Johnson

Each month we highlight one of the wonderful folks who make the magic happen at ACR.

This month we're spotlighting Processing Reuse Specialist, Tessa Johnson. Tessa is a great addition to the processing team, we love having them onboard! He’s been with us for about a year now and is an expert pricer in Floral, Containers, Glassware, and much much more! We love hearing the about the video games he’s designing and know he’ll go far in the gaming field.

Read on to learn more about Tessa, his love of video games and digital art, and his two adorable tuxedo cats!

What’s your favorite part about working at ACR?

Other than finding little trinkets or getting new project ideas, I think meeting so many people through ACR has been my favorite part! There are so many wonderfully creative and hardworking people apart of ACR, and I love hearing about their newest projects and having silly conversations!

Are you an artist, crafter, or maker? What mediums do you work with? What kinds of arts and crafts do you like to do?

I work with a bit of everything! Sketching with markers, pencils, and pens, creating digital art– 2D and 3D, and I love crafting little buttons, patches, and foam props! I currently work in digital art with a focus on character design, but hope to get back to physical art when school calms down. I also want to get more into sewing! So many crafts, so little time. . .

What do you do when you’re not working at ACR/what other hobbies do you have?

I love playing video games! It’s hard to choose my favorite, but I play a lot of Minecraft, especially with mods. Other than playing games, I do a lot of programming, writing, and volunteering at UT!

Do you have any children or pets?

I have two tuxedo cats: Leon and Ada! They are named after the characters from Resident Evil! I may be guilty of talking about them a little too much.

Are you from Austin? If so, tell us about your experience here! If not, where are you from and what brought you here?

I’m actually from California, but lived in Houston for the majority of my life! I came to Austin about two years ago to study video game design at UT. Overall, I love it here in Austin! It is nice being able to actually walk to places to shop, go to pop-up events, and take nice little strolls around campus. I was initially nervous to move to Austin– practically by myself, but I met so many nice people through school and work that made the experience worth it.
