Submit your Creation to Austin’s Coolest Reuse Art Gallery!

🌈 Turn Scraps into Stories : Submit to Austin’s Reuse Art Gallery! No fancy studio? No problem!
Got a stash of teeny fabric scraps begging to become art? Got a drawer full of copper wire, or some old stamps whispering “make something of me!”? Austin Creative Reuse is launching the Reuse Art Gallery—a bold third space where your creativity meets sustainability in a visual showroom of the retail space here at ACR. No fancy degrees or studios required! Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or a weekend glue-gun hero, we want to showcase how YOU reimagine secondhand materials.

Why An Art Gallery? More Than Art—It’s a Movement

We’re flipping the script on waste by proving that every scrap has potential. Here’s what makes this gallery special:

  • 🎨 Art with Purpose: Every piece will be crafted from reused materials—think magazine poetry collages, circuit-board sculptures, quilted flower pressed coffee bags or even rainbow marker top mosaics.

  • 🌍 Sustainability Meets Creativity: See how Austin’s artists turn old into gold, inspiring others to rethink the waste they produce.

  • 🤝 Community First: This is your third place—where art lovers, eco-supporters, and curious newbies gather to spark ideas, volunteer for a purposeful passion or dream up hands-on learning opportunities.

Why Submit? (Spoiler: It’s Not Just About Fame)

  • Inspire Austin: Show how a pizza box + paint = jaw-dropping art. Your work could be the spark that turns a bystander into a maker.

  • Get Featured: We’ll shout you out on our blog, social media (tag your handles!), and in-gallery spotlights.

  • Boost the Planet: Every submission keeps materials out of landfills and fuels Austin’s creative reuse revolution.

How to Submit (It’s Easier Than Assembling Furniture)

🗓️ Timeline

  • Submissions open: April 2025 - onwards

  • We will continuously accept submissions and review them on a rolling basis, though to be considered for the Gallery Opening event in late June, submissions must be received by June 15.

📏 Guidelines

  • All art will be donated and become the property of ACR.

  • Art being sought out is primarily made of reused/ second hand materials. Please limit new materials to components like glue or resin (which are used in small quantities and difficult to obtain second hand).

  • Art must be able to hang or stand up on a shallow shelf

    • Hanging art: Up to 8.5” x 10.5” (like a big postcard!) and weigh no more than 8 lbs.

    • Shelf-friendly pieces: Depth under 3” (so it doesn’t topple!).

Fine Print (We Promise It’s Friendly)

  • You’ll have artist credit, and ACR must be allowed to photograph your art.
