Volunteer Spotlight: Liz Nguyen

ACR would seriously not be possible without our amazing team of Core Volunteers! They bring their dedication and expertise to our organization every day and help make ACR the fun and welcoming place it is.

This August, we are putting a spotlight on one of those amazing core volunteers - Liz Nguyen. Liz has been volunteering with ACR over the summer through the Junior League of Austin, and enjoys the community of like-minded people that she’s found at ACR. Outside of ACR, she works as a business development manager at Dell. Her latest creative win? Paper crafts for her best friend’s bachelorette party!

Read on to learn more about her and why she loves to volunteer at ACR.

What motivates you to volunteer?

It means a lot to me to positively contribute to a mission aligned to my personal beliefs in my free time. Working full time and being a mom means that volunteering serves as a way for me to get "me time".

Why ACR?

I love craft hobbies and I'm all too familiar with the scraps that come from knitting, crocheting, sewing, and using a Cricut. I love that ACR provides a home for scraps to have a second life to another crafter!

How long have you volunteered with ACR?

2.5 months through the Junior League of Austin.

Are you more into the arts aspect of ACR or the conservation aspect?

Conservation.

What do you enjoy the most out of volunteering at ACR?

Being among like-minded people.

Do you volunteer elsewhere?

At this time, no.

What do you do for work?

I am a business development manager at Dell and I manage the relationship with NVIDIA. This involves providing training and sales enablement material to support selling NVIDIA products at Dell.

Tell us about your most recent creative project!

Paper crafts for my best friend's bachelorette party.

What other hobbies or interests do you like to spend time on?

Cooking.

Are you from Austin? If not, where are you from?

Houston.

Do you like to do creative projects with your kids or grandkids?

Yes, my toddlers are learning to hone in on their artistic abilities!

What creative projects are you most proud of?

Homemade decor for my kids' birthday parties. They were all made with so much love.
