International Repair Day Event

  • Austin Creative Reuse 2005 Wheless Lane Austin, TX, 78723 United States (map)

Join us for a celebration of reuse and repair on Sunday, October 19 from 12-3PM! ACR core volunteer Clyde Hoover will host a small exhibition of his Reuse Robots, made from the parts of broken and outdated tech, and will chat with participants about how to reuse and repair their own tech, as this year's International Repair Day theme is focused on software obsolescence.

Clyde spent over 40 years working in IT and, now retired, is a core volunteer at ACR. A self-described “computer geek,” he focuses his time and expertise on testing and fixing the myriad pieces of tech that get donated to ACR. Stop by during the event to learn more about how to keep your tech ticking along and prevent e-waste from polluting our shared environment!

In addition to helping tech find new homes at ACR, Clyde is also an artist who creates art objects from discarded electronics and appliances. Check out his website for more info and to see some of his work. Some of his pieces will be on view during the event.

This event is free and open to the public. Simply drop in at any point between 12-3PM on October 19 to chat with Clyde in our Community Space.
