Sewing Machine Maintenance Workshop and Volunteer Recruitment

  • Austin Creative Reuse 2005 Wheless Lane Austin, TX, 78723 United States (map)

Is your sewing machine acting up? Want to keep it in top shape for years to come? Join us for a hands-on Sewing Machine Maintenance & Repair Workshop, where you’ll learn the basics of machine upkeep and how to troubleshoot common issues. Our sewing machine testing volunteers, Carole and Carrie, will help you learn all about your sewing machine and how to keep it running smoothly and will have more info for participants that are interested in becoming sewing machine testing volunteers at ACR. We’re always looking for more folks to help us test and price the sewing machines that we receive!

This is a free event, but you must bring your own sewing machine, power cord, foot pedal and all accessories.

Sign up for a free spot here.

What to Expect:

  • Have a sewing machine that needs some care? Bring it along, and our experts will guide you through maintenance and minor repairs.

  • Practice cleaning, oiling, and adjusting your machine to improve performance.

  • Learn to fix common problems like skipped stitches, thread tension issues, and birds’ nests (thread tangles in stitches).

  • Learn about ACR’s volunteer opportunities for sewing machine testers.
